I wrote this song after I visited the West Coast for the first time. It was like a bridge I was building for years finally got its last span. This song is "Son of 'Spent'".
My dad inherited a big Ford Crown Victoria and I would lay down on the back seat early in the morning while he drove before the sun came up. I would listen to News Radio 780 WBBM out of Chicago. The signal was wavy and distorted. I imagined angels with deep voices swooping down to tell us about traffic conditions on the Dan Ryan Parkway.
